ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the correlation between knee osteoarthritis synovitis and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes of knee osteoarthritis.@*METHODS@#From January 2015 to June 2018, 213 patients with knee osteoarthritis were selected for traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and typing, and their MRI images were scored by WORMS. Meanwhile, the correlation between synovitis and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes in WORMS score was analyzed.@*RESULTS@#Among 213 patients, 25 (11.7%) were wind-cold-dampness arthralgia syndrome, 84 (39.4%) were rheumatic-heat arthralgia syndrome, 43(20.2%) were blood stasis arthralgia syndrome, 61(28.6%) were liver and kidney deficiency syndrome; 12 (5.6%) were synovitis score 0, 60(28.2%) were synovitis score 1, 50(23.5%) were synovitis score 2, 91(42.7%) were 3 points in WORMS score, and there was significant difference in correlation analysis. Three points group was more likely to occur in rheumatic fever arthralgia syndrome(²=137.286, =0.000).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Rheumatic fever arthralgia type(39.4%, 84/213) is the main clinical manifestation of knee osteoarthritis synovitis, which has certain guiding significance for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To construct Evaluation Form for TCM Nursing with Syndrome Differentiation for Lumbar Disc Herniation in order to provide references for better nursing care of patients with lumbar disc herniation with syndrome differentiation. Methods According to the principle of "discern Yin and Yang, grasp the main symptoms",literature analysis and Delphi method were used to draft the primary and secondary symptoms of lumbar disc herniation's common syndromes, and Evaluation Form for TCM Nursing with Syndrome Differentiation for Lumbar Disc Herniation was developed.Totally 84 patients were recruited, and results evaluated by clinical physicians and nurses using the evaluation form were compared. Results By means of the evaluation form,80 patients were considered as the type of "Xue yu qi zhi",1 patient as the type of "Han shi bi zu",the others three as the type of "Gan shen kui xu";according to clinical physicians,83 patients were the type of "Xue yu qi zhi",and 1 patient was the type of "Gan shen kui xu".The consistency rate of two methods was 96.43%,and there was no significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusion There was no statistically significant difference between the results from clinical physicians and nurses using the evaluation form. The evaluation form is applicable in clinical practice, which can lay the foundation for nurses to carry out nursing with syndrome differentiation.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the changes of sugar chain structures of serum amylase and difference in TCM syndrome patterns in primary hepatic cancer (PHC) patients and their relation with free radicals. Methods: Agglutinin precipitation assay was used to detect the binding ratios of serum amylase with various kinds of agglutinin in PHC, hepatocirrhosis, and hepatitis patients. The serum amylase activity and malindialdehyde (MDA) level were determined simultaneously. The association of the binding ratios of amylase with free radicals was analyzed. The difference mentioned above in PHC patients with different TCM syndromes was analyzed. Results: The binding ratios of serum amylase to ConA, PSA, PNA, and LCA were significantly higher in PHC and hepatocirrhosis patients than hepatitis patients and normal controls. The binding ratios of serum amylase to PSA and LCA were significantly higher in PHC patients with spleen deficiency and liver stagnation than those with liver and kidney Yin deficiency. PHC patients with spleen deficiency and liver stagnation had higher ConA-binding ratio compared with those with QI and blood stasis. A positive correlation was found between PSA-, LCA-, and PNA-binding ratios of serum amylase and MDA. Conclusion: For PHC and hepatocirrhosis patients, core-fucosylated high-mannose-type and hybrid-type sugar chains of serum amylase increased. The reduced terminal sialic acid and fucose on the sugar chain caused the exposure of the terminal galactose residues. In addition, the exposure of the terminal GlcNAc residues was induced by decreased terminal galactose on the sugar chain of serum amylase from HPC patients. These changes of serum amylase were also observed in hepatocirrhosis patients. It may be related with the damage of sugar chains induced by free radicals. In spleen deficiency and liver stagnation group, core-fucosylated high-mannose-type and hybrid-type sugar chains of serum amylase increased, and the terminal galactose on the sugar chain decreased, resulting in the exposure of the terminal GlcNAc residues. The changes were not observed in QI and blood stasis or liver and kidney Yin deficiency patients. It indicated that spleen deficiency and liver stagnation played an important role in generation of aberrant sugar chains of serum amylase for PHC patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of combination of acupuncture and medicine in treating allergic rhinitis. Methods: Acupuncture, moxibustion, nasal inhalation and oral administration of Chinese materia medica were used as a composite treatment for different constitutions. The relations of the patient's age, syndrome type and course of disease to the therapeutic effect were investigated. Results: Among the treated 92 cases, marked effectiveness occurred in 68, effectiveness in 16 and ineffectiveness in 8, with a total effective rate of 91.3%. The therapeutic effect was not good in the patients who belonged to dry heat in lung meridian type and had the course of disease for more than 20 years. Conclusion: A combination of acupuncture and medicine has an exact therapeutic effect on allergic rhinitis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of treating postoperative gastrointestinal syndrome with combined needles and herbs. Method: Altogether 117 in-patients were randomly allocated into the treatment group of 86 cases and control group of 31 cases. Point injection was mainly adopted in the treatment group plus Chinese herbal decoction, while Western medicine was adopted in the control group. And then the therapeutic effect of the two groups was compared. Result: The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group were 96.5% and 80.6% respectively, and the treatment course of the treatment group was significantly shorter than the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Combined needles and herbs have excellent effect in treating postoperative gastrointestinal syndrome and were superior to Western medicine.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects between the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns and the needling method by routine meridian differentiation in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. Methods: 380 cases of the patients with soft tissue injuries were randomly divided into pattern identification group (200 cases, with the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns) and meridian identification group (180cases, with the needling method by routine meridian differentiation), to observe and compare the therapeutic effects in the two groups. Results: The curative effect was 86% in the pattern identification group and 31.11% in the meridian identification group, with a significant difference (P< 0.01). In comparison with the total average treatment times in the cured and improved cases, the pattern identification group was 8.8 days and the meridian identification group was 15.6 days, with a remarkable significant difference (P< 0.01). The pattern identification group was better than the meridian identification group. Conclusion: In the treatment of soft tissue injuries, the needling method by identification of deficient and excessive patterns was better than the needling method by routine meridian differentiation.

ABSTRACT

The 6-point behavioral rating scale and Stead's grading method of diagnostic scale were applied to evaluate objectively the therapeutic effects of Tuina on 150 patients with tension-type headache in the experimental and controlled groups in this study. The results indicated that abdominal Tuina method of invigorating blood circulation and regulating qi had better effect than the routine Tuina method in treating tension type headache. Meantime,it is considered that eliminating the immoderate defensive response caused by the process of headache muscular contraction-headache is the academic basis of the marked effect.
